Careers education and guidance programmes make a major contribution to preparing young people for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.
A planned progressive programme of activities supports them in choosing KS4 & KS5 pathways that suit their interests and abilities and help them to follow a career path and sustain employability throughout their working lives.
Adelaide School has adopted the Careers Guidance and statutory requirements issued by the Department of Education in December 2017. We are using the Gatsby Benchmarks  to assess, review and develop our Careers Education programme.
Adelaide School offers a comprehensive and bespoke CEIAG provision for all pupils Y5-113.
We work in partnership with Changing Education to deliver impartial advice and guidance to pupil in KS4. Changing Education are Matrix accredited and our adviser Craig, has worked at the Academy for the past 3 years. There are additional meetings if pupils, parents or other staff request it. There is also additional support from the Local Authority for all pupils regarding transition.
We also work in close partnership with our local 16+ providers. Transition is important and we work hard to ensure that pupils know the pathways open to them when they leave us and the courses available at the different colleges.

We measure and assess the impact of our Careers Programme on pupils in a number of ways which include:

  • Pupil Career Surveys
  • Our destinations data
  • Successful outcomes from College courses in KS4
  • Meaningful Work Experience Placements which also enhance pupil's CV's
  • Employer appraisals for Work Experience Placements
  • Compass is used to measure against the Gatsby Benchmarks
  • Connect Software provided by Changing Education gives pupils and employers the opportunity to appraise performance producing quantitative and qualitative data

We review our programme annually and the date of the next review is: July 2020.
